Fitzherbert, John (1460 - c. 1531) or Fitzherbert, Anthony, Sir (1470-1538).
Surveyinge
London Thomas Berthelet 1539. A rare early work on surveying, now thought to be the work of John Fitzherbert. Architectural border to title page. (4), 60 leaves. Collates complete. Tidy internally aside from some minor worming. Reasonable margins though possibly a trifle closer at the top margin. Contemporary occasional ink notes or marginalia. Very, very slight stain to left hand margin of last few leaves. Single wormhole to top margin starts at title page, getting slightly wider, but not affecting the text is joined by another wormhole in the right hand margin from leaf 30 onwards. From leaf 40 onwards they become tracks and start affecting the text slightly. Otherwise a tidy copy. 'Several other works were formerly but mistakenly attributed to Sir Anthony. The Boke of Husbandrie and The Boke of Surveyinge, both printed in 1523, were by one Master Fitzherbarde, but this is now known to have been the judge's brother John.' DNB. We can send images of this book on request. Early Edition No Jacket Full Calf 8vo - 5.25 Inches; Early Edition. Good
