Petit in-8 [169 x 100 millimetres] pleine toile bleue a la bradel, piece de titre havane [STROOBANTS], 62 pages et [1] feuillet, marque typographique au titre, repetee au verso du dernier feuillet. Ex-libris a l'encre G. LABICHE sur une garde. TRES BON ETAT. ***___***___*** Small in-8 [169 X 100 millimetres] full blue fabric with the bradel, part of title Havana [STROOBANTS], 62 pages and [1] layer, typographical mark with the title, repeated with the back of the last layer. Ex libris with ink G. LABICHE on a guard. Elegant plate printed by Christian WECHEL who exerted in Paris between 1526 and 1554. The first edition of this small volume appeared in Antwerp in 1536. There is an edition of 1537 with the same address. Humanistic Dutch of great reputation and poet "NUo-Latin" which one rented the elegance and the purity of style, Cornelius CROCUS (Amsterdam, about 1500 - Rome 1550) was the vice-chancellor of the Latin schools of his birthplace. He deployed the greatest zeal to attach his pupils to the catholic religion and to communicate to them his aversion for the new doctrines. It is to this end that it composed a Latin grammar, in order to counter that of "the Melanchthon irreligious person" and that it wrote Latin Conferences to oppose them to those VERY GOOD. Elegante plaquette imprimee par Chretien WECHEL qui exerca a Paris entre 1526 et 1554. La premiere edition de ce petit volume parut a Anvers en 1536. Il y a une edition de 1537 a la meme adresse. Humaniste hollandais de grand renom et poete "Neo-Latin" dont on a loue l'elegance et la purete de style, Cornelius CROCUS (Amsterdam, vers 1500 - Rome 1550) fut le recteur des ecoles latines de sa ville natale. Il deploya le plus grand zele pour attacher ses eleves a la religion catholique et leur communiquer son aversion pour les nouvelles doctrines. C'est dans ce but qu'il composa une grammaire latine, afin de contrer celle de "l'impie Melanchthon" et qu'il ecrivit des Colloques latins pour les opposer a ceux d'Erasme. Michaud avance qu'il composa cette comedie, le Chaste Joseph, afin de contrer les effets que pouvaient produire sur l'esprit de la jeunesse la lecture de l'Eunuque de TERENCE. Adams 2970.
