One of the earliest woodcuts depicting the "Jeu de Paume", Il Fenestella d'i sacerdotii, e d'i magistrati romani.
Giolito di Ferrarii, 1544., Venice, - 8vo. Contemporary overlapping limp vellum. 42 very interesting historiated woodcut initials of professions, sports and past times. 43 numbered leaves. ASCONIUS PEDIANUS. Expositio in IIII. orationes M. T. Ciceronis contra C. Verrem (etc). Venetiis, Apud Paulum Manutium, 1553. 8vo. (8), 96 leaves. First italian translation of Floccus's legal work by Sansovino (1521 -1586). Floccus died in 1452 and was a laywer and a secretary to the papal court in Florence. This work contains very interesting woodcut initials depicting different professions, sports and past times. The most interesting woodcut is the initial H on page 17 depicting Jeu de Paume, 11 year before the publication of the famous first book on various ballgames by Scaino in 1555.
