      London: printed for Abel Roper, and Henry Herringham, 1658. Folio, (285x185mm), [22],650,205p. title page in red and black with the tail third supplied in facsimile, sometime damp affected with some 35 leaves frayed at the fore-edge, and some light browning throughout. Modern quarter cald, marbled paper sides. major work, if not an 'ideal copy' on Venetian, and indeed Cypriot, history. Paruta (1540-98) held the post of city historian in Venice from 1579 following the death of Pietro Bembo. This work, first published in the vernacular, was translated into English by Henry Carey and includes his translation of the same authors History of the Cyprian war.
