Fabri), (1478-1541) German theologian and humanist. In 1530 he became bishop of Vienna. Ferdinand I employed him as an envoy. He went to England to try to get Henry VII's help against the Turks. He was a life-long friend of Erasmus. He later withdrew his support from the reformers and became a staunch defender of the Church; earning him the title of "hammer of the heretics. VD 16, F211.
