Marcus Terentius Varro (116-27 B.C.) wrote Rerum rusticarum which treats with general agriculture, cattle and sheep raising, and smaller farm livestock. Lucius Iunius Columella wrote De Re Rustica in A.D. 60-65 and it also treats with general agriculture from farm buildings, soils, crops, domestic animals, poultry, fish, and bees. Rutilius Taurus Aemilianus Palladius (4th c. A.D.) was a knowledgeable agriculturists with estates in Italy and Sardinia.
