ROUSSELET, Claude.

Lyons, Seb. Gryphius, 1537. First edition. This collection of Latin epigrams was published posthumously by the philologist Jean Perelle or Perreau, to whom Rousselet had sent the work for emendation a few months before his death. Many of the epigrams, which range in length from two lines to almost two pages, are in honour of relatives or humanist friends of the author, many of whom lived in or near Lyon. Others take classical subjects as their theme or are translations from the Greek.Contemporary ownership inscription at foot of title “Oporini”, probably for the German humanist Johannes Oporinus (1507-1568).Baudrier VIII p. 102. OCLC records copies at Barcelona, Yale, and Harvard.
