1807 Document Signed By Revolutionary War Officer Veteran Marinus Willett While Mayor of New York City
1807 A printed appointment, accomplished in manuscript of Thomas Simpson as the Measurer of Lumber of the City of New York; signed by Marinus Willett on the tenth of June 1807 on the front of the document and again on the back of the form; with the original paper-covered seal of the city present; Marinus Willett (1740-1830) American Revolutionary War hero from New York, early and active rabble-rousing member of the Sons of Liberty and a constant fighter of the British and their allies, also fought in the French and Indian conflicts earlier in the eighteenth century, later becoming involved in New York City's government, here as Mayor; on 2 sides of legal paper 9 " x 14 1/2" approx.; old fold-lines; in very good condition. .
