It goes back all the way from prehistoric times, to the first explorers and settlers, to Tooele's growth and organizations, to the present (1990). This book has wonderful information on the famous Benson Gristmill (built by Brigham Young's Apostle Ezra Taft Benson in the 1850's), Tooele Army Depot, Mercur and other mining towns, the salt industry, ghost towns (including "Burmester, The Town That Vanished"), and personal stories (including "Utah and the Jesse James Gang"), and many many more. There are also full page graphs and illustrations of everything from cultures, climate, and animals to Census charts and population growth (including several that denote marital status of monogamous marriage versus polygamous marriage in the county).
