Tickell, Richard

ANTICIPATION: CONTAINING THE SUBSTANCE OF HIS MAJESTY'S MOST GRACIOUS

[SATIRE] Tickell, Richard. ANTICIPATION: CONTAINING THE SUBSTANCE OF HIS MAJESTY'S MOST GRACIOUS SPEECH... WITH A FULL AND AUTHENTIC ACCOUNT OF THE DEBATE WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE... London: T. Becket, 1778. 3 vols. bound in one. Ninth edition, corrected, of the first title. Contemporary three-quarter calf and marbled boards, label, gilt. General rubbing, and joints split (but strong and sound), but a tight clean sturdy copy, bound with the second edition of Tickell's similar work for the 1779 sessions of Parliament, and a third edition of a similar 1787 work. Complete with the half-title and terminal ad leaf. Final leaf of the third volume torn with slight loss. Long contemporary annotation on front fly about the author. The first volume was a popular work, a witty satire that correctly forecast the speeches of the King, Edmund Burke, and others on the subject of the American Revolution. Howe T258. Sabin 95788.
