Light soiling and a few small stains, lower corner of rear board lacking (possible insect damage). Title page with large woodcut device printed in red and black, woodcut head-pieces and decorated intials. Early signature to title page, interior otherwise clean. An appealing copy of a scarce title. * Only edition. Known to his fellow humanists as Antonius Sylvius Clarus, Le Clerc was an advocate of the Suprema Curia Parisiensi. His commentary on the twelve tables considers its sources, history and religious dimensions. It appears to be an obscure work, though copies are found in leading libraries of Germany, England, France and the Netherlands. OCLC locates 2 copies in North American law libraries (Harvard and UC-Berkeley). Not in Camus or the British Museum Catalogue.
