[Waller, Hardress, Sir]: [Finch, Heneage, Earl of Notting...

AN EXACT AND MOST IMPARTIAL ACCOMPT OF THE INDICTMENT, ARRAIGNMENT, TRIAL,AND JUDGMENT (ACCORDING TO LAW) OF TWENTY NINE REGICIDES, THE MURTHERERSOF HIS LATE SACRED MAJESTY OF MOST GLORIOUS MEMORY...

London: Printed for Andrew Crook...and Edward Powel, 1660. [2],287pp. [actually 297pp.]. Lacks pp. 149-152. Turn-of-the-century gray boards, paper spine label. Light wear to edges and joints. Bookplate on front pastedown. Minor old paper repairs to title page and last leaf. Generally very good internally, with very little tanning or foxing and no trimmed text. This important compilation of court records, etc., relating to the regicide of Charles I was published immediately following the presentation of the cases at the beginning of the Restoration. Aside from their obvious importance to English monarchical and legal history, the regicide trials have particular significance to New Haven history since three of the "murtherers" fled to New Haven following the restoration of Charles II, becoming namesakes of the three central avenues: John Dixwell, Edward Whalley, and William Goffe.
