An important, though disputed, source for the early history of Christianity which was first edited by Faber Stapulensis (Lefèvre of d'Etalpes) in his edition of the works of Dionysius Areopagita (Paris 1498-99). The letters are attributed to Saint Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch (d. ca. 110) and includes a letter by Saint Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna. Four of the eleven letters are disputed to be by Ignatius (including; to the Tarenser, Philippe, Antiochier and Hero of Antiochien). 95 pp. With fine woodcut title border and woodcut initials.
