[Staffordshire, medieval manuscript:]

      1461. MS on vellum, c.28.2 cms. x c.8.2 cms., 8 lines of text, averaging 18 words per line, secretary hand. Tag with intact pendant red wax seal showing a fleur-de-lis. Framed and glazed. A grant, written in Latin, dated 12th March 1461, in which John Cressewall Jr. gives to Thomas, son of William Cressewall, all his property in Butterton. A document from the very beginning of the reign of Edward IV; Henry VI had been deposed only 8 days earlier, on March 4th.
