Later alum-tawed quarter calf over marbled boards with vellum reinforced corners, lettering piece to spine, endpapers renewed, title page of Titulum re-hinged. Some rubbing to boards and extremities, light soiling to spine. Large woodcut printer devices to title page and verso of final leaf of Titulum, woodcut decorated initials. Crack between title page and following leaf of Titulum with minor worming along margins. Toning, faint dampspotting in some places, internally clean. * Titulum: second edition, augmented, one of three imprints issued that year (the others in Lyons by Giunta and Portonari); Commentarius: only edition, one of two imprints issued (the other by an unidentified Marburg printer). A respected book first printed in 1536, Ad Titulum Pandectarum is a commentary on De Diversis Regulis Iuris Antiqui (Digest, Book 50, Title 7), a collection of "old legal rules" in the form of maxims. The maxims are printed in Roman type; the commentaries are in smaller italic type. It went through several issues and editions. Commentarius addresses appellate procedure and trial practice in Roman law.
