This copy belonged to our founder, Peter Keisogloff (1900-95), who acted as the local agent for the Lemperly collection, and got it ready for the New York auctioneers. Each lot has prices pencilled in by Peter Keisogloff, and running totals at the top of the pages, and page totals at the bottom. Peter Keisogloff was also a friend of Paul Lemperly, and both were members of The Rowfant Club, a book collector's club in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul Lemperly's collection of association copies, and signed books, (which were mentioned and admired by A. Edward Newton, A. S. W. Rosenbach, Herbert Faulkner West, and others), and a detailed account of the 1940 auction, are the subject of an excellent article in the September, 2006 issue of "Firsts" magazine. A very scarce item. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
