With richly engraved emblematic title, the text calligraphed on the plate, and large woodcut coat-of-arms of Overijssel on separate title for the 'Kercken-ordre'. 120, 32 pp. Rare early edition of the Dutch 'Confession of Faith', established by the Synod of Dordrecht, here published together with the official Church-Order and Marriage-Order of the Province of Overijssel. The text was edited by E.V. Schuttenius, minister of the Church at Zwolle. The fine engraved title, not signed by the artist, is of special interest. With the coat-of-arms of Overijssel at the top, it has five religious emblematic medallions in centre, and shows the allegorical figures of love and religion at either side of the title. The 'Confession of Faith' had to be publicly recited by the young on being accepted in the Reformed Church, mostly at about the age of twelve years. Good copy. Van der Haar, Schatkamer, K 64.
