Paulus Manutius (1512-1574) was a Latin scholar, with a particular interest in the works of Cicero. When he took over the press from his father Aldus in 1533, he published a number of works of Cicero, many enhanced by his own learned commentaries. in this present work, the first Aldine edition, Manutius' masterly interpretation caused this to be seen as the definitive work, being reprinted many times.
