First and only edition of this rare investigation into the altar which stands in the Romanesque cathedral S. Maria Assunta della Tomba in Adria in the Veneto. The antiquary F.G. Bocchi (1748-1810) published a number of investigations into the history of his native town, Adria, and engaged in extensive archaeological digging around its cathedral. He collected the artefacts found in a museum, later visited by Mommsen. Uncommon Italian provincial printing.
