Woodcut devices on title-pages, commentary printed round text in first work, red woodcut diagram printed over text on C4r in second work, title-page of second work a little browned, a few minor spots and stains, in English eighteenth century sprinkled calf, gilt spine, thin decorative border round sides. Two attractively printed works. The first is the first edition of Daniello's translation of Virgil's Georgics into blank verse, printed in the same year as his version of Virgil's Aeneid, book two. He also wrote a treatise on poetry and published commentaries on Petrarch and Dante. Giulio Camillo (1479-1544) was an expert in Greek, Latin, Hebrew and several oriental languages; but his passion was the Cabala and ancient Egyptian philosophy. He taught logic for a while at Bologna and spent many years at the court of Francois Ier where the king gave him a great deal of money to perfect his new system for teaching languges. He died in Milan.

This copy belonged to Sir Richard Worsley (1751-1805), antiquary, traveller and founder of the 'Museum Worsleyanum', the first part of which catalogue he published in 1798 at the extraordinary price of ?2,887.4s., excluding binding costs. The exhibits comprised a remarkable collection of statues, reliefs and gems which he had assembled on his tour to Greece, Troy, the C rimea and Italy between 1785 and 1787.
