Abundant use of criblé initials in two sizes. Ruled in red throughout. Late 18th-century calf. Condition : Outer blank margins of title restored; rubbed, upper cover detached. A splendid piece of printing, this Bible is commonly considered the earliest genuine attempt at a critical edition of the Vulgate text. Although it incurred the censure of the Paris Faculty of Theology, it became practically
the foundation of the official Roman Vulgate (Schreiber).
