Annähernd vollständiger Jahrgang der ältesten Wiener Zeitung (gegründet 1703), lediglich zu Beginn des 2.bandes (Nro. 55) fehlt offenbar das erste Blatt. Mit allen Anhängen, amtlichen Veröffentlichungen, Prospekten, Versteigerungsankündigungen usw. ist die Wiener Zeitung (so der offizielle Name seit 1780) heutzutage eine Fundgrube. Durchgehend gleichmäßig gebräunt, Einbände berieben und bestoßen, Kapitale mit Einrissen, ein Deckel bei Band 2 erneuert.

Chez Fournier, (1778)., A Paris, - In-16°, pp. 44, brossura posteriore ottocentesca. Fregio xilografico al titolo. Ottimo stato. Raro opuscolo settecentesco su due particolari varianti del whist, il Boston whist e il Maryland whist. Il cosiddetto Boston Whist, molto giocato nell'Europa del diciannovesimo secolo e in Russia, costituisce fra l'altro il gioco del racconto La dama di picche di Pu?kin. Manca il nome del compilatore, ma il trattatello è da alcuni attribuito al celebre Philidor, al secolo François André Danican (Dreux, 1726-Londra, 1795), talentuoso musicista (allievo di Campra, compose musica sacra, un oratorio profano e, soprattutto, briosissime opere comiche che risentirono dell'influsso di Rameau) e, al contempo, fra i massimi scacchisti del XVIII secolo, nonché uno dei primi grandi codificatori moderni degli scacchi. Sarum, Easton London 1778 Petit in-4 de 4 ff.n.ch. 140 pp., basane fauve de l'époque, dos à nerfs orné, pièce de titre (restauration au dos). Troisième édition, révisée, corrigée et augmentée d'un chapitre sur le trot (originale parue en 1761). L'auteur officier et expert en Cavalerie, ecrivit ce livre qui fut adopté plus tard par l'armée britannique. Ouvrage orné de 17 planches gravées, représentant l'équipement et l'entrainement des chevaux. Bon exemplaire provenant de la bibliothèque Sir Horace Mann (ex-libris). Edition ayant servi à Bergeret de frouville pour sa traduction parue en 1784 (Menessier de la Lance I, p. 111).

"Umfassend wird über die Geschichte der europäischen Eroberungen in Asien und Amerika berichtet, über die Ausrottung der Indianer und den Sklavenhandel. Lebensformen der Eingeborenen und der Europäer werden gegeneinander abgewogen, die Gütergemeinschaft als ein Zeichen archaischer Zustände kritisiert und die Position einer utilitaristischen Moral des Glücksstrebens legitimiert und politische Freiheit gefordert". In it, Richter describes, for the first time, the hernia that has long borne his name. A femoral hernia is usually a piece of omentum which plugs the femoral ring, and it may or may not be reducible. The hernial sac may contain a coil of intestine as well, and if a part of the convex protion of a loop of intestine is nipped within the small space of the hernial ring, the condition is then called Richter's hernia. Such a portion of the bowel may become compressed or strangulated and gangrene will result. Chez Jeunehomme, Imprimeur du Roi, [1778]. Overall VG (expected soiling & edgewear/old 'mounting' holes at lower corners). An unusual ephemeral survivor from 18th C. France. A 'small room' almanac, for hanging on the wall. Each side provides 6 months of information, including quarters of the moon, patron saints, etc. At the bottom the calendar's recto is a coach schedule: "Départ et Arrivée des Couriers pour la Ville de Reims"; the verso has "Berlines, Coches, Royaux et Messageries de la Ville de Reims". The Almanach concludes with "Foires de Reims" [4 are listed]. Rare. We could find but one instance of one these almanacs being recently offered on the commercial market-in 2003 a 1789 "Almanach de Cabinet" realized 730 Euros at auction.

(Paris), 19 octobre, 1778, - in-12, 1 pp. Lettre datée du 19 octobre 1778 du chancelier de Maupeou dans laquelle il informe son correspondant qu'il recevra "de Denis (Itasse) de la Roque les frais faits jusqu'à ce jour résultants du proceds verbal de Carti pour Le Gland". Il demande des nouvelles de la santé de sa fille. Sont joints 2 P.A. (déreliées) : - Certificat de vie de Maupeou, à l’état de projet, dressé à Thuit, les19 février et 12 octobre 1783. "Nous, François Antoine Boulloche bailly juge civil criminel et de police du bailliage d’Andelis et dépendance, membre du duché pairie de Gisors appartenant à son Altesse Serenisime Monseigneur le Duc de Penthièvre ( ) certifions et attestons que très haut et très puissant seigneur Monseigneur René Nicolas Charles Augustin De Maupeou ( ) chancelier de France, commandeur des ordres du Roy, marquis de la Motte, seigneur de Bruyères, du Thuit et autres lieux, demeurant ordinairemenjt à Paris à l’hôtel de la chancellerie place Vendosme ( ) est vivant pour s’être présenté aujourd’huy devant nous ( )" - Une reconnaissance de Maupeou donnant procuration "au sieur Négier de Sonet, conseiller au présidial et maire honoraire de la ville du Mans" pour recueillir en son nom l'héritage, en cas de décès, de "Madame de Mauluy de Chenevière, épouse de Mr de Chenevière président honoraire du présidial de la ditte ville", et de régler les affaires et titres avec les cohéritiers. La procuration est datée du 19 avril 1786 au château de Thuit. D'une famille de magistrats originaires de Montpellier, René Nicolas Charles Augstin de Maupeou (1714-1792) fut premier président du Parlement de Paris entre 1763 à 1768 à la suite de son père René-Charles, puis désigné comme chancelier de France à la démission de Guillaume de Lamoignon. À cette époque, Maupeou réunissait les fonctions de Grand Chancelier et de Garde des sceaux, poste qu'il conserve jusqu'en 1774, date à laquelle le nouveau roi Louis XVI le fit remplacer par Mirosmesnil, sur les conseils de Maurepas. Sa réforme des Parlements entreprise en 1771 au profit du pouvoir royal, avait causée la chute de son ministère.

Un peu de jeu dans les coutures et quelques mouillures pales dans les marges des derniers volumes, sinon ensemble en bon etat general.

Intéressant compte-rendu de "l'accrochage" survenu entre la Belle Poule et une frégate anglaise: "L'action a été des plus sanglantes". Ce navire, le premier de plusieurs homonymes, a été armé en 1765 à Bordeaux et participa au premier combat de la Guerre d'Indépendance des États-Unis. La frégate qui ramena les cendres de Napoléon ne fut mise à l'eau qu'en 1834. Belle pièce, rarissime

A FINE LARGE PAPER COPY , WITH AMPLE MARGINS of these regulations of commerce between Spain and her colonies, including the Philippines. Restrictions on commerce were cancelled, although the regulations were still very favorable to the “mother country”; themes covered include importation, exportation, coffee trade it also grants special commercial conditions to Louisiana to aid in the growth of its population; article 51 refers to commerce with the Philippines. Through these regulations the Crown ended the Cádiz and Sevilla monopoly on commerce with America, permitting the participation of other cities of the kingdom; in addition to valuable information regarding commerce and numerous tariffs on a great variety of American and Spanish products, other sections deal with matters such as shipments, ports, and other maritime activities directly related to commercial activity. ESTUPENDO EJEMPLAR EN GRAN PAPEL, CON AMPLIOS MÁRGENES de estas regulaciones de comercio entre España y sus colonias, incluido Filipinas. Second edition, revised much enlarged work on chronology from the quarto edition of 1774 with a new introduction by Johann Christoph Gatterer (1727-1799). Frank's astronomical-chronological system is based on the 49-year duration of the Old Testament Jobel cycle. The work includes extensive lunar tables. Gatterer was professor of history at Göttingen and member of the London Royal Society and the Royal Science Academy at Gottingen. Johann Georg Frank (1705-1784), a Lutheran theologian, was the superintendent to Hohenstedt in the duchy of Calenberg who put together a large private library. Le pagine 108-134 relative alla memoria di Mann sugli incendi, quelle 178-190 all'ultima opera. Estratto da "Opuscoli scelti sulle scienze e sulle arti" continuazione ideale della "Scelta di opuscoli interessanti", importantissima e rara raccolta di saggi scientifici compilata dal 1774 al 1777 e successivamente ristampata nel 1784. La raccolta contiene saggi e memorie dei più grandi scienziati dell'epoca fra cui spiccano Volta, Lavoisier, Landriani, De Saussure, Spalanzani, Ferguson, Franklin, Beccaria, Priestley. Ben conservato seppur in modesta legatura. Trattandosi di un estratto mancano le tavole presenti normalmente nell'opera di Strange.

"This important treatise in which are described the preparation, properties, and chemical reactions of several gases, including carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, hydrogen, oxygen, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, and ammonia. There are numerous references to the earlier experiments of Boyle, Hales, Helmont, Magellan, Nooth, et al. The author repeatedly extols the great work of Priestley and also speaks highly of Black, Chaussier, Fontana, Gerardin, Lavoisier, Meyer, Venel, Volta, and others. In 1776 Sigaud assisted Macquer in experiments showing that water is produced when hydrogen burns in air. Pages 227-284 describe these experiments, which greatly helped Cavendish, Lavoisier, and Monge in their later investigations on the composition of water" (Neville Collection, II, p. 475) [4] leaves, XVI, 400 pp. With 5 folding engraved plates.
