vermutlich Peter Schöffer, Mainz 1462 Sammlung von 27 Inkunabelschriften in einem Band. Folio. Ganzpergament. Vermutlich Peter Schöffer, Mainz, 1462ff. Darin enthalten u.a. Epistole, De ignorantia, Itinerarium, De rebus memorandis, Contra medicii, Epitoma Illustrium, Beneuenuti de Rombaldis, Africe libri, De vita solitaria, Trionfi, Testamentum suum, Bucolicum Carmen. Späterer Ganzpergamentband mit zwei Schließenbändern. Zustand des Einbandes: 2- / Zustand des Papiers: 2- / Sonstige Anmerkungen: Der Einband leicht berieben und bestossen, das Papier teilweise leicht fingerfleckig, zwei Seiten mit Eckausrissen, ansonten ein sehr schönes Exemplar. Weiterhin ein vollständig rubriziertes Exemplar in rot und blau. Exemplar mit sehr vielen handgemalten Initialen (ca. 1.500 Stück) und einer ganzseitigen, handkolorierten Miniatur. Ohne bzw. mit falschem Kolophon, dieses nennt als Druckjahr 1418, das GV sowie das GBLVT stimmen jedoch darin überein, dass zumindest acht der in dem Sammelband vorliegenden Schriften aus der Frühphase Peter Schöffers stammen, dieser gab zwischen den Jahren 1460 und 1466 einige Schriften von Petrarca heraus. Somit dürfte dieser Sammelband das erste vollständige Exemplar einer "Opera" Petrarcas Schriften im 15. Jahrhundert darstellen und zudem die meisten, wenn nicht alle Schriften in dem frühesten bekannten Druck vereinen. Petrarca (1304-1374) gilt als Mitbegründer des Humanismus und als einer der größten Dichter Italiens. Sein "Canzoniere", ein Zyklus von 366 Gedichten, darunter 317 Sonette, prägte inhaltlich und formal die europäische Lyrik der Renaissance (Petrarkismus). Von großer Bedeutung auch für die Musik waren seine Madrigale als Textvorlage sowohl für das Trecento-Madrigal wie auch das Madrgial des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts. Im 19. Jahrhundert vertonte der Komponist Franz Liszt mehrere Petrarca-Sonette für Klavier. Using a new type face; type set on a smaller body with more lines to the page. Printed double column, 48 lines per page. With manuscript titles in red and blue, large red and blue chapter numbers and beautiful large extended initials red and brown or red and blue each with fine pen work extending over 20 lines One Folio leaf (405 x 300 mm), beautifully bound and presented--the leaf within a foldover case of richly textured cloth with designed label on the upper cover, the text in a handsome binding of morocco over boards, the upper cover with designed printed label; the two volumes housed in a fine matching foldover case with printed label on the upper cover. A superb leaf from Chronicles XXII - XXVI in which David in his old age, makes Solomon king and gathers together all the princes of Israel and the priests and the Levites. A very beautiful copy in pristine condition, the handsome leaf, clean and extremely well preserved. A RARE AND IMPORTANT LEAF FROM THE 1462 BIBLE. For all intents and purposes, the earliest obtainable printed Bible leaves after those of the Gutenberg Bible - and these, at a fraction of the cost.

ADB VI, 433 f. - Nicolaus Everardi (Klaas Everts, Evertsen, Ervertszoon oder Everaerts), niederländischer Rechtsgelehrter (1462 - 1532), Präsident des höchsten Gerichtshofs für Holland, Freund des Erasmus von Rotterdam. - Everardi's schriftstellerischer Ruf ist durch zwei Werke begründet, von denen das eine mehr in der Schule, das andere in der Praxis während längerer Zeit in hohem Ansehen stand. I. 'Topica sive de locis legalibus' (hier vorliegend): Die erste Ausgabe, enthaltend hundert loci, erschien Löwen 1516 bei Maertens ... Andere Ausgaben sind Lyon 1547, 1568, 1579; Venedig 1539; Frankfurt 1591, 1604, 1624; in dieser letzten findet man eine Vorrede von Dionys Gothofred (in der vorliegenden Ausgabe von 1613 erstmals gedruckt) ... Es ist nicht leicht, über dieses Werk ein sicheres Urteil zu fällen. Gleich bei seinem Erscheinen machte es großes Aufsehen. Cantiuncula, welcher seine eigene Topik drei Jahre später veröffentlichte, erwähnt Everardi's Buch mit besonderer Hochachtung; noch Dionys Gothofred empfiehlt den Anfängern dessen Studium dringend; er stellt zwischen E. und Oldendorp einen Vergleich an, der offenbar zu Gunsten des ersteren ausfällt: E. schöpft seine exempla argumentorum stets ex intimo ipsumoque iure, während Oldendorp aus der Glosse schöpft. Cantiuncula schöpft vielfach aus classischen Schriftstellern und aus der Geschichte des Alterthums und macht auf uns einen weit moderneren Eindruck als E. Denn E. steckt noch, was Autoritäten betrifft, die er in Masse allegirt, im tiefen Mittelalter, mitten unter den Commentatoren und Scolastikern; man staunt über dessen Belesenheit, allein man empfindet eine Art Genugthuung, wenn er seine eigene Erfahrung und Fälle aus seiner Praxis erwähnt. Most widely known as monastic humanist, Trithemius, was also fascinated by history the occult, cryptography and steganography (the art writing secret messages encoded in such a way that no one save the write and recipient even realise that there is a secret message), with his most famous work, 'Steganographia,' appearing to be a grimoire, but actually being a treatise on that subject. Curiously the cipher manuscripts which formed the foundation block of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn were encrypted using a simple substitution code described by Trithemius in his book 'Polygraphia.' From the collection of Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz (1941 - 2002), the noted British artist, eccentric, and student and collector of works on Hermetica and the arcane sciences. Some scraps of paper with Lenkiewicz's notes, page references etc. loosely inserted in the text. Navy cloth with gilt titling to upper board and spine, b&w illustrations, bibliography, index. Just a hint of shelf dust, otherwise a sound and bright Near Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket lightly rubbed with a few very light stray marks to panels).
