Everardi (auch Everaerts),
Loci argumentorum legales. Nunc iterum recogniti, diligentia magna emendati, summariis singulis locis praefixis illustrati, ac P. Prateii adnotatiunculis doctißimis ad marginem adscriptis locupletati. Editio postrema. Accessit praefatio consultissimi viri Dionysi Gothofredi. Darmstadt, Hofmann für Treuthelius in Frankfurt, 1613. 4 Bll., 839 S., 23 Bll. mit Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Titel. Blindgepr.
(ADB). - Titel mit mehrere alten hs. Besitzvermerken. Durchgehend gebräunt, gering fleckig. H786

Petrarca, Francesco
Collection of 27 incunabula in one volume (1462 onwards)
Probably Peter Schöffer, Mainz 1462 Collection of 27 incunabula in one volume. Folio. Vellum. Probably Peter Schöffer, Mainz, earliest from 1462. Contains Epistole, De ignorantia, Itinerarium, De rebus memorandis, Contra medicii, Epitoma Illustrium, Beneuenuti de Rombaldis, Africe libri, De vita solitaria, Trionfi, Testamentum suum, Bucolicum Carmen and other works. Later vellum binding with two straps. Condition of the binding: Good (-) / Condition of the paper: Good (-) / Further remarks: Binding slightly rubbed and scuffed, paper with finger stains, two pages with tears at edges, otherwise a fine copy. Fully rubricated in red and blue and with about 1,500 hand-painted initials and one hand-painted whole-page miniature. With wrong colophon stating 1418 as printing date. The GV as well as the GBLVT agree on at least eight of the works originating from the early working period of Peter Schöffer who edited some of Petrarca's writings in 1460 and 1466. Thus, this volume probably is the first copy of Petrarca's "Opera" in the 15th century, containing most, if not all, of Petrarca's works in the earliest print known. Petrarca (1304-1374) is considered one of the founders of humanism and one of the greatest Italian poets. His "Canzoniere", a collection of 366 poems, among them 317 sonnets, was extraordinary important for European Renaissance poetry in terms of content as well as form ("Petrarchism"). Many of his madrigals have been set to music by numerous famous composers. Still in the 19th century, Franz Liszt composed several pieces for piano using Petrarca's sonnets. As every single work has its own collation, please ask for a detailed collation protocol.

BRANN, Noel L
The Abbot Trithemius ( 1462 - 1516 ) The Renaissance of Monastic Humanism ( Studies of the History of Human Thought Volume XXIV )
E.J. Brill, Leiden 1981 Hardcover, large 8 vo. xxvi + 400 pp. A major study of the life and works of Johannes Trithemius (1462-1516), the Benedictine Abbot. Most widely known as monastic humanist, Trithemius, was also fascinated by history the occult, cryptography and steganography (the art writing secret messages encoded in such a way that no one save the write and recipient even realise that there is a secret message), with his most famous work, 'Steganographia,' appearing to be a grimoire, but actually being a treatise on that subject. Curiously the cipher manuscripts which formed the foundation block of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn were encrypted using a simple substitution code described by Trithemius in his book 'Polygraphia.' From the collection of Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz (1941 - 2002), the noted British artist, eccentric, and student and collector of works on Hermetica and the arcane sciences. Some scraps of paper with Lenkiewicz's notes, page references etc. loosely inserted in the text. Navy cloth with gilt titling to upper board and spine, b&w illustrations, bibliography, index. Just a hint of shelf dust, otherwise a sound and bright Near Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket lightly rubbed with a few very light stray marks to panels).
